Summer is Here, and so are Junior Nationals. Fourteen players represented Mojica Judo at the first of the three nationals that they will be attending during the month of July. Over 600 players from all over the nation attended this years Junior Olympic Judo Championships on July 7-9, 2006.

ROGER ARCE (3 Wins/2Loses), SHANE DELFIN (3Wins/2Loses), and KILE YOUNG (1Win/2Loses), were in a 16 man pool. All three fought hard with Roger coming home with a Bronze Medal.

SAMANTHA ORTIZ, AND DANIELLE DELFIN were in a 13 man pool. Samantha Won her first match, but lost her second to Melinda Chow-HI, another loss would take her out of the competition. Sammy then won her next two matches, which put her in the Bronze Medal Match. Danielle looked strong winning her first two matches, she lost her third match to Melinda Chow. Her loss to Melinda sent her to the Bronze Medal Match.  The two Mojica players were told good luck by their coaches, knowing that the winner would have another chance at Chow, and the loser would take home Bronze.  Sammy beat Danielle, but again lost to Chow and went home with Silver.

Although it might have been
AMARIAH PALACIO and ELIJAH PALACIO first nationals, they aren't strangers to compeition. When not in Judo they wrestle, and both went thru their pools with ease. Elijah came home with Gold and Amariah Silver.

BRIANNA VALLE was in a 8 man pool. She won her first match, but then lost her next two, she went home with 5th Place.

For the newest members of Mojica Judo,
DANIEL FASULA and BENNY MIRANDA, it was a good experience, and they'll be ready for next year.

On the Second day of competition, Mojica Judo was represented by the older judokas.
in a 8 man pool
LISA FASULA, was injured during her first match, and was still aching and lost her second match and was out of the competition.

ERNIE VALDEZ won his first match, but then lost his second. Ernie then followed up with two more wins, but lost in the Bronze Medal match to come away with 4th.

Having more experience at this level of competition,
KEVIN  DUARTE and PAULA DUARTE were up for the task ahead of them. A very confident Kevin competed in a ten man pool. He won his first match, but some contrversial calls in his second match with Matthew Montez, sent him to the loser's bracket. He wanted another chance at Matthew, so he fought his way back winning his next 4 matches. In the Gold Medal Match, he again faced Matthew, this time, there would be no controversy, Kevin thru Matthew for Ippon. In Order for Kevin take gold, he would have to beat Matthew a second time. On their third match, Kevin lost to Matthew went home with Silver.  Having just come home on Sunday from a two week training trip to Japan, Paula  moved up a division.  Her three wins secured her a Gold Medal.
