| On Saturday, June 12, 2004, Mojica Judo hosted the Nanka Shorai practice. Many junior players from the area came in for the special practice, all trying to get extra mat time in preparation for this year's junior nationals. Among those players was Ronda Rousey. Ronda, however, came to get in some practice time in preparation of the Titan Games which will take place June 18-20 in Atlanta, but more importantly, some practice time for this year's Summer Olympics. At seventeen, Ronda will be the youngest Olympian on U.S. Judo Squad. She will represent the United States in the 63 kilo division. |

| Taken from press release by Maria Burns, Olympic Media Assistant Budapest Hungary, (October 16, 2004) Ronda Rousey of Santa Monica California became just the second American to win the Junior World Champions with her victory over Jing Jing Mao of China in the women's 63 kilogram category in Budapest Hungary. "This is just unbelievable." said Rousey of her win. "Coming off the Olympics I was a little disappointed, but I put that behind me and focused all my energy on today, and it all paid off. I'm just so happy right now. " Rousey, the only member of the American team to advance past the preliminaries, breezed through Thursday's early round before facing Russia's Irina Gromova today in the semifinal. |
